We are currently recruiting ladies in the Mobile area age 19 and up for an established roller derby league. We are seeking ladies of all shapes and sizes and with any and all experiences.

We have several local girls who are willing and ready to show Mobile what we've got! If you feel the need for speed and are ready for a great time and good competition, let us hear from you.

We practice twice a week, 2 hours per session. Please email info@mobilerollerderby.com for a current practice schedule.

Mobile Roller Derby is skater owned and operated. Our league is in the midst of our first full season, and we are all still learning. With total control over how our organization is run, we hope to bring something new to Mobile that will enrich our community, local culture, and each other!

Roller Derby is gaining momentum throughout the US and Canada. We are excited to get down to business so that we can bout with our sister leagues in the region. There are already two other leagues in Alabama: The Tragic City Rollers in Birmingham and The Dixie Derby Dolls in Huntsville. There are also leagues in Mississippi, Pensacola, and in New Orleans.

Get ready Mobile, here we come! Come out and support your very own local roller derby girls!

ViaDerby.com Announces Winner of Lifetime Supply of Bearings Via Awards Tata Bodacious of the Mobile Roller Derby of Mobile, Alabama a Lifetime Supply of Bearings for Naming Via’s Newest product, Bearings, "Loobie Loo's."

Loobie Loos's is the name that sold the team at ViaDerby.com on their new lubed Abec 9 bearings. Tata Bodacious submitted the name with this submission.

"I thought of the lyrics to the children's song "Loopty Loo". It's well accepted that no one enunciates this properly ('cause they're KIDS!) and it ends up being "Looby Loo". Here we go looby lou, here we go looby lie, here we go looby lou, all on a Saturday night (all together now!). I guess you could change the spelling to "Looby". They can be you Looby Lou's."

Via plans to illustrate Bodacious' features for a 2 demensional pin up character for the logo of Loobie Loo's bearings. They have plans to turn Loobie Loo into a short animation for viral video.

Via has awarded Bodacious with 2 sets of bearings every year, for the lifetime of the bearings market life, "unless she doesn't take care of them, in which they will award her with more."

Bodacious is a single mother, jammer and nurse in Mobile, Alabama. When asked to comment on her win, she said, "When I told the team at practice tonight, they acted like they weren't surprised at all. They said they already knew I was a cartoon. haha ha bitches. When asked about plans for turning Bodacious into a cartoon, Via's Creative Director said "It's really coincidental because Tata said that her and her teammates got bearings tattooed on their shoulders at RollerCon this year, and it just so happens that Activision hooked me up to the video gaming sensor equipment and had me skate in circles a couple weeks ago just to try it out and they gave me the footage to use. It's perfect, we are going to match a drawing of Tata to my motion data!"

Loobie Loo's bearings are high-tolerance, ABEC-9's that are not greased, but applied with one of the thinnest lubricants specifically designed for roller skating. Loobie Loo's bearings will be available for resale and sale on December 15th, 2007. You can find them first on http://www.Viaderby.com.

We're thrilled and so thankful for everyone who contributed to this event. Our sincerest thanks to the Mississippi Rollergirls, the officiating staff, the Fear Squad, our friends, and all the fans who showed up to support these two leagues in their inaugural bout! MRD and MSRG will meet again in March on their turf in MS. We'll post more details as that bout gets closer.

Pictures from the Debutant Brawl will be posted soon, and a video of the entire bout will be available for purchase in the near future, too!

Now we will resume our regularly scheduled training activities to prepare for our next bout with the Reedy River Rollergirls scheduled for Saturday, November 17th in Reedy River, SC. We can't wait to play again!

And hey, if you haven't heard already, this Saturday we're having a recruitment party at Rambo's Skateland in Saraland! Come on over around 8:00 and skate with the Miss-Fits! After we wear you out on the rink, the party will relocate to the Blind Mule for drinks and ruckus, as this recruitment party so happens to coincide with the birthday of our very own Buxom Bombshell! Gifts are not required, but birthday spankings are much appreciated. We can't wait to meet you, so don't be late to this party!
